Animal-Kind International supports Ghana SPCA's Humane Education Program. Recently, GSPCA used funding from AKI to take GSPCA Humane Ed students to LEMLA, a vet clinic, grooming salon, pet supply store, and boarding kennel. It's the only place of its kind in Ghana and it's the first time these students visited a small animal vet clinic, groomer, pet store, and boarding kennel--4 Firsts In 1!
So many students had signed up to participate-plus LEMLA is not a large facility, GSPCA had to split the group into two separate trips. A total of 85 students and 4 teachers visited LEMLA during the two field trips. Students from Amrahia Adma Basic, North Legon School Complex, and Kwabenya m/a Basic 5 participated.
Bus hire for these trips is expensive! For the two trips, bus rental was US$710--but we think it's worth it. Take a look at the pictures, I think you'll agree.
The first group went to LEMLA on June 23-pictures are below.
The second group visited LEMLA on June 30-pictures below.
We're always looking for people who are interested in sponsoring a Ghana SPCA field trip. GSPCA has taken students to Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary, Livestock & Poultry Research Center (University of Ghana's facility that promotes humane livestock raising), and La Vet Clinic. GSPCA field trips are memories that will last a life time for these students!
